About

In this picture of Can Kırca, he is wearing a formal black jacket and a white shirt. Hello, I’m Can. I was born in 1990 as a visually impaired individual. My interest in technology began when I was around 7 or 8 years old at an elementary school that had a single computer. I still remember the extraordinary feeling I had when writing code using a screen reader and seeing those lines of code instantly transform into the web pages I envisioned. I wrote my first lines of code in 2005 in ASP, and that same year, I published them using the free hosting service provided by Noktahost, who I connected with via Messenger. Thankfully, we no longer have to deal with the read-write permissions that IIS required for MDBs! As the years went by, it became harder to keep up with the pace of technology, but I always managed to stay in the game. I have been professionally active in the IT industry for over 13 years now, and yes, I’m still learning.

What Have I Done?

Although I graduated in English Translation and Interpretation, I have had the opportunity to work in various areas of the IT sector throughout my career. In addition to the programming languages I specialize in, I’ve spent a significant amount of time working on hardware, network technologies, open-source software, and Linux and its derivatives. In my senior year of high school, I worked as a Remote Support Specialist at Çizgi Telekom (Natro). During my university years, I managed about 8 servers, providing corporate hosting solutions to over 400 companies. I began my professional career at Türk Telekom and continued my journey at Apple. The experience I gained there had a significant impact on my career. While working at Apple, I also had my first international experience, and being one of the four people selected by the company significantly boosted my confidence. This experience taught me to view technology not just from the perspective of a user but as a solution creator. I especially focused on accessibility solutions and worked to raise awareness in this area.

Among the national and international events I have participated in, I have been invited as a speaker at prominent organizations including Google BigTent, DigitalAge, and Cloud Fest. Additionally, some of my work on the accessibility of music software and hardware has been published in various U.S.-based magazines and websites.

I have been working in the IT field for many years, contributing to the beta testing processes of numerous companies. Technology, for me, is not just a profession but also a tool that makes my daily life easier. My interest in smart home technologies has also evolved in this direction.

What Am I Doing Now?

In addition to continuing my professional career in Hepsiburada’s R&D department, I provide technology consultancy to institutions and collaborate on content production through various partnerships. Now that I’ve finally completed the preparations for this site and my podcast, I aim to share my experiences in technology. I closely follow the latest technological trends, working on software development and smart home technologies. Music and books are an integral part of my life. Additionally, my wife and I strive to expand our cultural and intellectual horizons by traveling to different countries as much as we can.
